Support Services

A Message from Lieutenant Steve Blunk

The Support Services Division consists of a variety of sworn and non-sworn personnel. The Support Services Division is a vital part of the everyday function of the Anderson Police Department and consists of the following smaller sections within the division: Records, Property & Evidence, Investigations, Problem-Oriented Policing (POP), and Traffic.
The Records Section, in some ways, is the face of the Anderson Police Department because they greet and ‘serve the citizens who come into the lobby. The Public Safety Records Clerks are responsible for processing and distributing crime and traffic reports and entering data into a computerized database for citations, warrants, and vehicle impound releases.
The Support Services Division has three non-sworn Community Service Officers. They are responsible for property and evidence, court liaison duties, fleet maintenance, processing registrants, and vehicle abatement. The Community Service Officers assist the Field Services Division with calls for service, traffic control, and crime scene management.
The Investigations Section consists of a Detective Sergeant, a Detective, and a part-time Detective. The Investigations Section conducts follow-up criminal investigations on felony and select misdemeanor crimes. The Investigation Section has one Detective assigned to Shasta Inter-Agency Narcotic Task Force.
The POP Team is a specialized unit consisting of a Sergeant and three officers. The team’s primary goal is to proactively work with the community to address concerning criminal issues within the City of Anderson. The team is well-versed in many areas of law enforcement, including property crimes, narcotics, code enforcement, and traffic.
There is currently one full-time police officer assigned to the Traffic Unit. The Traffic Unit’s primary goal is to reduce traffic collisions within Anderson through proactive enforcement and education. The Traffic Unit is responsible for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) enforcement, DUI Check Points, and traffic collision investigations.
The Support Services Division is managed by a Lieutenant and supervised by the non-sworn Support Services Supervisor. The goal of the Support Services Division is to assist in the overall mission of the Anderson Police Department by serving the citizens of Anderson with the best quality in service and professionalism.
